Due to the progress in molecular biology the various features of microorganisms and their large number of particular metabolites have moved into the focus of process- and production technologies allowing producing certain products more efficiently than with traditional chemical processes. In the past years, this led to "biologisation" of production methods in industry - hardly noticed by the public.
At this year's BIOTECHNICA the forum and special display Industrial Biotechnology present new, specific examples for the application of biotechnological processes and methods in production processes. Which processes and methods will be used in industrial processes in future? How can scientists and engineers in interdisciplinary project teams benefit from each other?
These and other issues will be discussed in several lectures on Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 in our forum "Industrial Biotechnology" which is located in hall 9. Successful case studies, supported by the initiative "BioIndustrie 2021" of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will be presented here as well.
